LA NIGHT LIFE

I’m not a wild party girl, but I do love a GOOD party and I would way prefer to be out hanging with friends and flirting with boys that sitting alone at home (though, I do believe there is a time and place for both). I think LA NIGHTLIFE is FABULOUS!

As I get older (though I will NOT tell my age ;) I am very much over the hustle and bustle of the Hollywood club scene. I will NOT wait in line outside some club (with all the under 21 scantly clad girls vying for free entrance) to go on to the dance floor to be ogled by men and groped for a free drink. Don’t get me wrong! I have been that girl! I like to dance. I like free drinks and shit, sometimes I like a little groping. Ha! Ha! BUT as I get older and mature, I want more! I would love a boyfriend, a stable relationship, someone to hang at home with, cook dinner for and watch movies. BUT till that day arrives my NIGHT LIFE revolves around friends, flirting with boys, cocktails, yummy food and I think that is pretty FABULOUS!

I love to plan dinners with friends. I would much rather be all dolled up and dining at a fancy schmansy restaurant then swigging from a bottle of vodka at a club. Plus, you know how I love food! I love to get dressed up for a ladies night of sushi and champagne at Koi or Katsuya. It’s also fun to make a night of gorging on pastas and sipping wine at Bella or Ago. I usually eat WAY too much and have to head home early. Early to bed and early and rise makes a girl healthy and wealthy and wise (and still full)!

You also may find me in Hollywood for special events. Some nights you will find me with a microphone in hand working the crowd for Young Hollywood, but sometimes I am just an invited guest. This means you will most likely find me twirling on the dance floor, drinking a citron and soda and flirting with the most handsome boys at the party. I don’t have a publicist so my mailbox is not overflowing with party invitations (This year, I wasn’t invited to any Oscars or Grammy parties so I watched on my couch with Peanut). I often get invited to fashion shows or events, which I enjoy (you know, I love Fashion Weeks from East to West). I also like to go to charity events for causes that I believe in. I recently went to a party at Boulevard 3 in Hollywood for Guitar Hero benefiting VH1 Save the Music (www.vh1.com/partners/save_the_music/home.html), and a pre-Oscar party at Opera sponsored by Little Black Dress Wines benefiting Clothes Off Our Backs (www.clothesoffourback.org).

I like to go to Hollywood on a Monday nights. Now, you may say, “Chudney, who the heck goes out on Monday night?” BUT Monday’s are wild in Hollywood (OK, every night is kinda wild). I like the new S Bar on Hollywood Boulevard. Monday nights are hosted by Frankie Delgado (from the Hills) and brings in a good looking, young, hip crowd. I’m also a huge fan of One Sunset whose rockin’ Monday night party is thrown by Jin & Quinn (friend/promoter Alex Quinn). Lots of fancy people go to Hyde on Monday’s too, but I think its way too much of a hassle to get in unless you are someone super fabulous (and for some reason the door guys don’t realize that I am), plus it’s tiny in there and the drinks cost an arm and a leg. If I’m REALLY feeling wild on a Monday, I may hit Metal Skool at the Key Club to rock out with the wild 80’s heavy metal cover band. Monday’s are FABULOUS and they start off your week with a bang!

The only other spots in Hollywood you might see me at are Opera on Thursdays (because I know the promoters) or the new hot spot Goa, where my bro Evan is an investor. I will only go to a club that I can easily march right past the line and thru the velvet rope!

Most nights I tend to stay on the Westside. It’s way easier (and safer) to not hit the freeways at night. LA is hard because there is no easy mass transportation and way too many people I know have gotten DUIs. It’s scary, so I would rather walk (or ride my fancy beach cruiser). Often on Tuesdays you can find me at Cabo Cantina for Taco Tuesday ($4.95 all you can eat Tacos and two for one margaritas during happy hour. This deal can’t be beat!). My friend Samantha is a bartender there so Cabo Cantina has become my “Cheers” (where everybody knows your name… and their always glad you came!)

My wild party girl days may have passed, but I still think NIGHT LIFE in LA is FABULOUS! Party on party people!

Why doesn't sister Tracee (Ellis) Ross Silberstein update her blog? No posting since Nov 2006. We need more of the Ross Sisters!

Man, just reading that tired me out! LOL! I wish you love, health and happiness with Mr. Right but for now, party on! Have much fun and see the world and don't forget to share all the juicy details with us! Any openings on STYLE Network or a segment on TOP MODEL? You deserve a TV show! But in whatever you do, good luck!

I will admit my age which is 25, and I can relate to going from being a club kid to a socially responsible young woman. I live in Atlanta, where we have an amazing scene, but I'm not on it like I used to be.

Like you I would much rather have some chill time at home with friends, or head to clubs where I'm getting the treatment. Only then is it worth it.

I agree about the club scene. I live in NYC and there's nothing better than getting dolled up to go out and have dinner with some of your best buds. I'd rather do that any night over partying at some overcrowded club with way too loud music!

I'm going to L.A this summer and I can't wait!

Studio 54 and Diana:

Hi Chudney--Do you ever talk about Studio 54 with your Mom--Miss Ross? I think she used to hang/party there with Halston, Juilo Inglesias (All of You) and Liza Minnelli back in the late 70's. (Diana's party days).

Maybe when I come to LA we can take a day hike, with my backpack full of everything to have a picnic on the beach...then bike to get my dolphin tatt (ha)...then go get cleaned up for dinner and drinks...then cut a rug at a club...then grub on late night Big Mac's...and then just chill under the stars?!
Now that sounds like a good day to me?!
I hope all is well!
