Another day another fashion week!
I swear I feel like my life revolves around fashion weeks from here to New York. The truth of it is… fashion week seems to draw in the fabulousness, the flash bulbs and fun invites that I crave.
Mercedes Benz LA fashion week is super fun because it is all hip, young designers. Yes, I love the high end, couture designers (Prada, Fendi, Chanel, Oh my!!) but I cant afford to buy, nor wear it so this is more up my alley and what you might find in my closet (mixed with high end Forever 21 and Isaac Mizrahi for Target of course ;)
This LA fashion week brought invites to view a couple shows (I wish more, but beggars can’t be choosers) as well as requests to walk in two shows (and you know I like to strut my stuff on the runway ;) Here is how the week went…
Sunday – My friend Samantha and I put together our most fashion forward outfits (you have to dress hot to go to the tents) and headed to Smash Box Studios in Culver City to see the first showing of 2(X)ist, a line of men’s underwear. We sat front row and gawked at a very rowdy (totally drugged out) Janice Dickenson while we waited for the half naked men to hit the runway. Gorgeous guys strutted around in their panties and all I can say is WOW! Some of the most amazing bodies I have ever seen. Janice Dickenson, Sam and I howled at the passing god like figures, but Sam yelled just a little louder then the rest of the crowd. (Turns out she has had romantic rendez vous with not one, BUT two of the male models. What are the chances? HA!)
Monday – BEBE would only seat me as the guest of Kim Kardashian (Not very nice at all!!) and Kim didn’t want to go. So after some whining on my part, we snubbed our noses at BEBE and went to Koi for a delicious sushi dinner instead. I didn’t want to go to your stinkin’ show anywho (Grrr…)
Tuesday – To keep up my energy, I took the day off from fashion week to go to the gym, do some work (Always writing, writing, writing) and go to bed early (a girl cant party every night or she will start looking green and wrinkly).
Wednesday – I walked in Samora (A designer known for her classy, feminine designs). I wore cool brown pants with a bustier top and a sexy hat to top it off. The make up was clean and minimal with a red lip (Thanks to NARS Shanghai Express) I’ve never thought to wear red lipstick (I tend to leave that for my mom) but this was sexy and I will definitely work it into my makeup repertoire. I strutted my stuff and worked my poses for the cameras, then rushed off to change my clothes and check out the Christian Audigier show. (Samantha and I where shafted to the second row. SO UNCOOL!) Kim K worked the runway while her EX Nick Cannon spun the tunes. No drama here, just some cute clothes and good music. As if the day hadn’t been long enough, after the show Sam and I whisked up to Hollywood to make a pit stop at the 944 Magazine party to see our friend Kimberly Carlson. Then we all headed to the Rock and Republic party at Chateau Marmot. By this point my feet where killing me and my eyes beginning to close, so after a quick drink (one of which a slightly tipsy Sam spilled all over my legs and feet), we headed home to bed.
Thursday – Kim K and I were special guests at “Pinque Cirque,” a wild fashion fete thrown by AVO and Gaudy PR at Boulevard Three. I hosted the first show for Couture of Bloke. Though it seemed their idea of hosting was mingling with my friends (Thanks Kim C, Sam, Kimberly, Pearl, Scott, Tasha, Evan and Danny for comin out) in an awesome Bloke dress, wild hair and dark smoky makeup. Then Kim K, Carolina Bacardi and a couple of the America’s Next Top Model past season cast offs (I LOVE Melrose!!) walked in House of Doll. The dresses where wild with a circus flair and our makeup was bright and crazy. After the show and when the champagne ran out, Pearl, Tasha, Sam and I continued the party at Area, where Evan and friends had a table (weird to go to clubbin with your little brother, but I’m trying to get used to it.) Also there was Lindsey Lohan, Stavros and one too many of my ex boyfriends. We danced till the early morning or at least till the lights came on and they kicked us out.
Friday – To finish the week strong, Kim K and I went to the exclusive KLS / Baby Phat dinner at Social Hollywood. Somehow we got shafted to the back corner of the loser table (all the big stars sat at fancy round table with Kimora). Kimberly Locke (From American Idol and Celebrity Fit Club) was super sweet, but ditched us at our table for a cooler upgrade next to Tia and Tamara (the twins from Sister Sister. Love them! Seriously, I feel like I look more like the two of them than my own family). Kim K and I giggle and acted silly in the corner while we chowed down on the yummy, but petite tasters of food. After dinner, we watched the show, mingled for a minute and snuck out (not that anyone noticed ;) to head to bed.
At the end of LA fashion week, my feet hurt from all the strutting around in heels, my writing fell behind because of all the partying, but all in all it was a fabulous week. Next week, I promise back to my usual focus (in between all the fun of course).
