South Beach, MIAMI

I was super excited when my most fabulous New York socialite friends Mary (Giuliani) and Lydia
(Fenet) helped score me an invite to Miami for Marc Bauwer’s fashion show for the GLAMIT line. They called two days before to see if I could clear my schedule and hop on a plane (all expenses paid) to be a special guest in the front row of the over the top fabulous affair. Seriously, who could say NO to Miami and all expenses paid to boot? So my calendar was quickly wiped (Thanks Sam for watching Peanut, my baby… dog at such short notice ;) and off I went.

I arrived in Miami one night early and quickly checked into the Raleigh (Thanks to Ariel Stein, who I met just recently in New York at fashion week, for hooking me up with the best deal at one of the hottest hotels at the beach) I quickly transformed from comfy airplane attire to Miami mama ready to hit the town (30 minutes is all I need!)

Ariel, Kiera (a gorgeous Miami model, who I also met in New York) and I dined on deliciousness at Forge (the place to be on Thursday in Miami) then cruised next door to dance on leather booths at Glass. Champagne is the drink of choice in Miami and I was thrilled as I danced and partied till the early morn with my new friends Ariel, Kiera, Eric, Errol and Gerard.

I woke up in a cloud the next morning quickly checked out of the Raleigh and headed to the Hilton (hotel provided by the PR company who invited me). The room wasn’t ready but no worries, I went and found Mary and Lydia bikini clad and laying by the pool where I quickly passed out to only awake for a cheese burger and flip over to tan my backside. I woke in the afternoon with a nice tan, checked into my room, showered and dressed in my beaded (amazingly gorgeous) Marc Bouwer gown.

The car picked us up and took us to Karu and Y (a new Miami hotspot). Outside costumed nymphs on stilts surrounded the car and peeked in the windows (it was like being on the safari at Busch Gardens only with weird people instead of animals;) We met and took pictures on the red carpet with the designer (He’s totally cute and fabulous).

Inside the champagne reception was wild with more costumed characters rocking to the music. We sipped Kier Royals and danced around the room meeting the hottest people of Miami. After some mingling, we were ushered to the front row of the runway where odd costume characters strutted around and mocked how models walk.

The show began and hot gowns in bright colors swept across the stage on models with some skin on there bones (I guess I should have tried my hand at modeling in Miami where the waif is not the norm)

After the show the party continued to whirl, but Ariel and I swept away to get some food (passing trays of apps and cheese and crackers are not enough to fill this girl). We headed to The Victor Hotel where one of Ariel’s friends was at a huge round table filled with gorgeous people having a tasting selection of everything on the menu. I don’t eat fish so I gorged myself on mash potatoes, chicken curry (YUM!) and of course more champagne (This IS Miami, you know ;)

After we were good and satiated, we followed our new friends up the roof top bar (I spent one of my birthday’s here a couple years ago… so fun!) Errol and Gerard joined us again as we chilled under the clear sky (We never see the stars that clearly in LA. They are always hidden behind our deep smog).

As the evening got later and the crowd started to move on to the clubs, my eyelids began to droop. The guys dropped me at my hotel and I sank into my bed for a good, deep sleep.

I caught a couple rays of sun while I ate breakfast by the pool, then off to the airport and back to the real world. I LOVE Miami!!
